Cyndi was born in the southern plains of Tifton, Georgia. The youngest of four girls, her love of music began early when she was exposed to records spinning throughout their home and singing in her local church. By age twelve she knew that singing was her calling and by age thirteen, she knew she would find her home in country music after being moved by Trisha Yearwood's "She's in Love with the Boy."
Almost overnight, she went from being the girl scrubbing floors to holding a shiny new record deal and shortly afterward topping the country music charts. Thomson signed with Sony-ATV Music Publishing as a songwriter. In 2000, Capitol Records Nashville signed her to a record deal immediately after hearing her sing three songs in the office. Thomson co-wrote eight of the eleven songs on her debut album My World, released on July 31, 2001. It became the best-selling debut album by a female country singer since LeAnn Rimes’ album Blue was released in 1996. The album was certified gold, for selling more than 500,000 copies, by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The lead-off single “What I Really Meant To Say,” spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. It also became the only debut single by a female country singer to spend more than one week at the top of the Radio & Records country chart.
This was a season of dreams coming to life and the season to follow would be one of her laying them down at the altar of Jesus. While it was hard to relinquish, it also brought her to the full realization that Christ was her full identity and all she needed.
The years that followed brought many questions and she found that her God always showed up to answer them, rescue her, and assure her that she would return to the world of music again. He began to stir her soul to not only sing again, but also to write and minister to young girls and women across the world.
She began to feel a fierce tenacity under her to move onward toward this very calling He had placed on her life, diving into the unseen and carrying great faith that He would put together each piece of it along the way.
Her story is one of triumph and loss, of trusting that Jesus will supply your needs as you wait on Him, and believing that He truly seeks to know all of you : your hopes, fears, and dreams.
She is living proof that God delights in seeing His children joyfully live out their purpose. She has learned that He is always working out our salvation through our lives and that He not only honors our dreams, He builds new ones.
